Default What do you expect from paid web directories?

There are many directories on internet, free and paid both.

We all submit our sites to many directories... but only few go and submit in paid directories.

I want to know when you submit to paid directories what do you expect from them?

1. Do you expect huge traffic coming from them?
2. Fast approval and get listed in directory, that's it?
3. Increase in your pagerank fast because of submission in high PR directory?

or something else?

If you allow free submission you can expect high traffic volumes and crappy links. If you have a paid directory you can expect lesser traffic but quality links. Its trying to get a decent balance of both that can be hard.

I had a free directory a couple of times and after submitting it to DP's directory announcements I had traffic coming in the thousands each day, but the links were bad quality and poorly submitted. I think out of 1000 submissions 5 of them were paid links where they chose to have a featured link.

Yes me too started a paid directory few days ago and that's why I want to know what should be the base for my directory to make it a paid directory not free?

The reason I made it paid directory is because I am going to promote it heavily and will invest on it as well in terms on purchasing advertising on other websites, submit in other paid directories...etc so I should get something in return too.

I think it would be good for new directories to be FREE at first to get esablished and then turn to paid later.
My paid directory was free for about 2 years I turned it to paid January 1st. I get a steady trickle of payments. I need to promote it more as a premium directory. Good Luck with yours.

I pay more interest to directories with lots of traffic because getting backlink is not much of a problem these days. People can do blog commenting, forum participating, articles submissions...etc for free to get many many backlinks so why should pay only for 1 backlink from directory?

Websites are all about traffic and visitors, so I would like to submit my site to a directory that has high traffic. If it is paid I will pay.

I expect that the directory receives a lot of pure, unique traffic and have good quality links. The site should look good as well so people find interest and actually care to look through the directory.

Lightbulb paid directory guarantee...

Hello,

A paid directory should be able to guarantee you a turnaround time of 24 to 48 hours between the time you submit your site and the time your site is listed in the directory. It should offer the opportunity for deep linking as well.

Paid directories are good source of increasing backlinks and PR for the site.

Paid directories are good but they do not ensure that you will get huge traffic or conversion. The particular dir might have good ranking or huge traffic but no one can make you sure that you will get some part of that traffic.

I agree with Dragonizer in the point that a directory should be free at the beginning and turn it paid once it is established. I am doing same thing at present.

As Jess said, why to pay for single link? I must have good reason to pay and this reason can be good traffic. There is no traffic from general directories, however, many niche directories send quality traffic which converts well.
