Well as a Moderator, you are staff, and staff of any company or business or place of 'work' regardless of whether its a traditional brick and mortar business such as a shop or hairdressers, or a typical online setup the staff must be - as you say - approachable and have the ability to interact with other collegues and subordiantes, but must be able to keep a professional distance at all times. Without this distance, any complications with a member who you have become good friends with can be made worse as friendship and sociability can cloud judgement and make it difficult to make a totally impartial decision without being biased. That is why it can be a difficult task.

Thanks Mike, I already feel a part of the community, it's hard coming in and being staff right off the plate because you feel, well I feel, somewhat intruding. But now I feel like a part of the team, with all the nice comments and wonderful people here, this place is going to make it big!
