50+ Ultimate Photoshop Tips

This post is a collection of 50+ Photoshop tips for better Photoshop experience. The list may seem too long but when you start using these tips you will realize how much time you are saving by not going to the options using mouse.

Note: Some of the tips mentioned here work only on the older version(s) of Photoshop.

bullet1 50+ Ultimate Photoshop Tips Press Tab will hide tool bar and palette, Shift+Tab will hide only palette.

bullet1 50+ Ultimate Photoshop Tips Hold Shift + click the top blue bar for toolbar and palette will move them to the nearest edge.

bullet1 50+ Ultimate Photoshop Tips Double click the top blue bar, on any palette window, to minimize it.

bullet1 50+ Ultimate Photoshop Tips Double click the gray background will bring up open file option, Hold Shift+double click will open up the browser.

bullet1 50+ Ultimate Photoshop Tips Sick of the default gray background around your image? Select paint bucket, hold shift and click on the gray background, it will change to whatever color you have in your foreground color box.

bullet1 50+ Ultimate Photoshop Tips In Photoshop, all “Cancel” buttons in a window can be changed to a “Reset” button by holding Alt.

bullet1 50+ Ultimate Photoshop Tips If you are working on a document in Photoshop and press Ctrl + Shift + S to save it you will see that photoshop will have it named as Untitled.psd But if you press Ctrl + Alt + S you will notice that Photoshop will have it named as Untitled copy.psd

    Hey there, thanks for these tipps. But some of them seem to be based on older versions of Photoshop, they are no longer needed or have been replaceed in the recent versions. Maybe you should add this information in your introduction. Thx!

    Yes, some of these tips may work only on the older versions but I shared them all because if anyone using older version and come to this post he should find some tips instead of leaving site without learning anything.

    @Rogerio Fratin: May be it works on the latest version? I have CS2 version and it does not work for me too.

    I have a photoshop book and most of the tips I shared are from it. I have not tested them all but only few.

    hello thre, tips are so usefull for me and i’m very much impressed for u r trials. i have so many doubts regarding design like when i see design’s or shapes etc i’m not able to design as it look’s and not even near to that. is there any option that i will give u the img’s so that u people publish a tutorial’s no how to design them.
