When it comes to having a landing page, the whole point of the page is that you will get the visitor to do something on the site. The pages have to be designed to get a desired response from the visitor which can be anything from them actually purchasing from you or simply just signing up for a mailing list. The design of landing pages is paramount to their success and here are 3 of the best designed and optimised landing pages that work exceptionally well:

- Square: Square is a new service that allows you to make credit and debit card payments on your phone. The landing page for this website has been designed extremely well as it looks fantastic with a large image of how the system works on the right hand side of the screen and then the signup box on the left. This really gets the user to enter their details and sign up as there is little else to do on the page.
- Gift Rocket: The landing page for this website works extremely well, perhaps because it is so great looking. The page actually looks a lot like any other website out there but it has been designed to get you to enter a business name and location into the boxes provided. One way that it draws your attention to this area is with the large writing on the page. This really helps to attract the visitor’s attention and increases the conversation rate of the page.
- Tumblr: Tumblr has one of the best landing pages around in my opinion as it looks great, simple and does it job effectively. The idea of the landing page is to actually get people signed up to the website which is why there is simply space for an email address, password and url at the bottom. One this is filled in, the user is ready to get going with Tumblr and their services.
Landing pages are a difficult thing to get right but there are a number of techniques (like the ones in the pages above) that will help increase your conversions.
